FATAL ACCIDENT TO ARCHER HARMAN - Dies at Hot Springs, Virginia, of Injuries Received in Fall From His Horse - FUNERAL HERE ON WEDNESDAY - Born in Augusta County - He Went to Ecuador - Where He Amassed an Immense Fortune
News reached the city yesterday of the death in Hot Springs of Mr. Archer Harman which occurred Monday morning at six o'clock as the result of injuries sustained at noon the day before when he fell from t his horse. Mr. Harman was out for a little ride and it was while crossing a bridge near Hot Springs that his mount stumbled, throwing him, his head striking a rock causing injuries from which he later died. Dr. Finney, of Baltimore, performed an operation in an effort to save his life but this proved unavailing. The body will be brought to Staunton Wednesday morning for the funeral which will take place from Trinity at 12:30. Interment will be Harman vault at Thornrose. Mr Harman was born in Augusta county in 1859, a son of Col. Asher W. and Virginia Harman. His enterprise is promoting South American railroad building resulted in his amassing a fortune and caused him to be sometimes spoken of as the "Dictator of Ecuador." Extensive business operations necessitated the maintenance of offices both in New York and London. Besides his only daughter, Miss Kate Harman, who was with him in Hot Springs, he leaves his wife, formerly Miss Mary Lee, of Kentucky, one brother, William H. Harman, connected with the State Library at Richmond, and a wide circle of relatives throughout this section. Another brother, O. C. Harman, died and was brought here for burial only a few months ago.

Mr. Archer Harman, son of Col. A. W. Harman of this city, will be married to day, Nov. 4th, to Miss Mary Livingston Lee, at the residence of her brother-in-law, Gen. S. W. Ferguson, at Greenville, Mississippi.
